The role of Operations Manager involves overseeing the day to day activity at Homegrown Distribution’s warehouse including operations team supervision, inventory, purchasing, quality assurance, product rotation, facilities maintenance, shipping and receiving, distributor transfers and daily delivery routing.  It would be preferred for the Operations Manager to have experience working in the fast-moving consumer goods industry and is used to the minutiae and complexities of managing 1000+ perishable SKUs.  The position will require someone who can analyze and improve workflow systems in order to create efficiencies and provide a great working atmosphere.  The Operations Manager must be extremely organized, reliable, able to handle multiple tasks at once, have acute attention to detail, be a problem solver, be comfortable with constant change, is motivated and is confident in his or her abilities.  Having knowledge of Encompass Software is a big plus!


Inventory/Quality Assurance

  • o   Forecast, submit, and schedule pick up for brewery purchase orders to help support needs for the marketplace
  • o   Identify short-coded or out of code items during receiving of incoming shipments and alert brewery partners of any issues
  • o   Manage weekly distributor transfers of MBA brands including effective and efficient communication with distributor network personnel and supplier partners
  • o   Proper handling of receiving, transfers and empty cooperage return BOLs/invoices
  • o   Work closely with accounting department to assure proper processing of purchase order invoices, distributor sales order invoices, retailer invoices and empty keg return invoices
  • o   Work with accounts receivable and sales departments to assure proper handling of troubled credit customers
  • o   Monitor and rotate product in accordance with code date standards for existing and incoming inventory to assure premium freshness at all times
  • o   Maintain communication with Homegrown’s General Manager relating to current inventory of brands identifying short coded, out of code, or short seasoned items
  • o   Communicate incoming point of sale shipments to Director of Sales & Marketing in timely and efficient manner

Warehouse Supervision

  • o   Oversee daily delivery routing using Encompass RAS
  • o   Recruit, interview, train new HGD warehouse workers
  • o   Daily motivation, supervision, scheduling and monitoring of warehouse personnel
  • o   Prepare daily activities for distributor transfers, direct retail orders, incoming shipments, cooperage returns, and other transfers
  • o   Communicate effectively with sales department on issues and concerns relating to retail deliveries
  • o   Hold warehouse workers accountable for safety, assure all workers adhere to OSHA safety standards
  • o   Shift coverage during absences such as vacations and sick time

Facilities Management

  • o   Assure warehouse (including: beer coolers, dunnage room, POS area & loading dock), driver yard and general facilities are kept in an organized, orderly, and clean fashion at all times
  • o   Keep track and report to General Manager any items that are not in good working order that need to be addressed with building management or contractors
  • o   Ensure all utilities, equipment, and general building/grounds maintenance and upkeep are in superior order
  • o   Work within assigned budget
  • o   Previous administrative or inventory management work experience in CPG environment; preferably in perishable goods or craft beer industry
  • o   Knowledge and practice of LEAN principles including 5S, Workflow, Idea Boards & Checklists
  • o   Must be a reliable and consistent presence at HGD’s warehouse
  • o   Excellent time management skills with organizational skills
  • o   Extremely organized with an acute attention to detail
  • o   Strong team player able to work across multiple functions and disciplines
  • Must have at least 3 years of related work experience
  • o   Proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • o   Experience with Encompass WMS/RAS a huge plus
  • o   Experience with VIP or other similar beverage industry software a plus
  • o   Forklift Certified
  • o   Physically fit with ability to repetitively lift 75lbs.
