Reporter Covering Cannabis Food and Beverage Business
BevNET.com, Inc.Apply for this Job
BevNET.com is looking for an experienced reporter to cover the emerging Cannabis business and its influence on food, beverage and beer.
The reporter’s beat is a big one, tracking the growth of the key brands, suppliers, investors, distributors, retailers, thinkers and influencers who are shaping the intersection of this major ingredient trend with more established CPG categories. The reporter will also contribute to an ongoing series of industry thought leadership conferences designed to explain and educate entrepreneurs in the food and beverage business who are looking at cannabis as an ingredient.
The beat is a new one for BevNET.com and is intended to provide high-impact stories that will be relevant to a new content vertical developing alongside our three other coverage titles, BevNET, NOSH, and Brewbound. Stories might include tracking investment in new cannabis-infused food and beverage brands, investigations of ingredient suppliers, profiles of entrepreneurs and stories that will generally make sense of the progress of this business and its effects on established industries.
Applicants should have experience covering business and/or the business of cannabis. They must be able to develop sources and knowledge of affairs directly affecting the future growth of our audience of craft food, beverage, beer, and cannabis brands.
Note that this is not an enthusiast, review or recipe site. Applicants must be able to work independently to develop sources and stories, be able to think creatively about storytelling in a multimedia environment, and be able to produce a solid mix of breaking news and broader enterprise stories on a consistent, reliable basis.

In addition to day-to-day editing and writing tasks. the ideal candidate must be personable and outgoing (comfortable on camera and, at times, on stage), with excellent professional networking skills and passion for understanding the business and supplying information to an engaged audience.

Filing between 4-6 stories per week
Screening and posting press release submissions in concert with the BevNET editors
Assisting in the planning and execution of a thought leadership conference on the intersection of food, beverage and cannabis

Executing same-day news with perspective and engaging sources beyond a single speaker, when possible.
Pitching a mix of enterprise and features derived from ongoing stories and new ideas gleaned from sources and research.
Proposing potential content for live events and preparing the content and the speakers who are involved in a timely fashion, as well as the announcements and marketing of those segments.
Travel to industry trade shows or to companies to perform video or podcast interviews, as needed
Journalism (or similar) Bachelor's Degree and at least 3 years of professional journalism experience
Strong oral and written communication skills
