Raaka Chocolate - Production Manager (Red Hook, Brooklyn)
At Raaka, we make chocolate from scratch without roasting, focusing on innovative and creative ways to develop flavor while preserving the complexity of cacao in every bite. We’re a team of fifteen people committed to making delicious and unique chocolate and doing so in ways that maximize positive social and environmental impact. Our chocolate showcases the variety of cacao beans we work with and the unconventional and inventive ways we develop their flavors. At our Red Hook factory, we age cacao nibs in bourbon casks, steam them over simmering wine, and infuse them with whole foods, teas, herbs, and spices.
We’re seeking a Full-time Production Manager to run our facility in Red Hook, Brooklyn, NY.
Scheduling of all chocolate manufacturing
Ownership of Cost Per Unit goals set by upper management
Coordinating with Sales Team and Fulfillment Team to manage order pipeline
Day-to-day management of 15+ production team members
Hiring, scheduling and training of all production staff
Raw material inventory and ordering
Managing equipment maintenance and repairs
Assisting with incoming and outgoing deliveries
Filling in any gaps in chocolate production- ability to operate all chocolate making equipment and machines
Possess 2+ years of experience in food production management
Exceptional time management and problem solving abilities
Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs or more
Ability to work on your feet for an extended period of time
Available to cover weekend days as needed
Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills
Possess a willingness to work overtime as needed
Have a basic knowledge of the chocolate making process (optional)
Experience in operating commercial packaging equipment (optional)

Reports to: The Co-Founder
Compensation: Competitive base salary commensurate with experience. Aggressive bonus structure based on exceeding goals.
Stock Options: All full time Raaka employees are offered performance-based stock options. Stock options are a right to buy Raaka stock at a share price which is locked in as of the date in which the employee begins full-time work. All employees have an 8 year window in which to decide to exercise their stock options (ie. purchase the stock or sell the option to a 3rd party). Options vest over 4 years, with a 1 year cliff. Raaka’s 2017 team stock options plan will be approved this winter, and the specifics of the offer will be communicated at that time.
Health Insurance: All full-time employees are given the option to enroll on Raaka’s group health insurance plan which includes medical, dental and vision insurance. Enrollment must be within the first 30 days of employment.
