Mill 95 is an independent, progressive service provider to craft brewers and hop growers located in Wilder, Idaho. We work with every part of the hops supply chain: procuring from growers, monitoring crop level detail from farm operations, processing, storing and selling to brewers. We are in our third year of operation and pride ourselves on our flexibility in meeting brewer needs via a versatile range of hop varietals from Idaho and beyond.We are searching for a Strategy & Development Officer to lead business strategy and planning, identify and develop new business opportunities and build and expand our business. This senior leader will collaborate with ownership to set the vision, work with our COO to advance a thriving operation, and develop the people within our organization to become successful results-driven contributors. This role is heavily focused on business development, strategic partnerships, and product innovation. 

Key areas of contribution:

Strategic Thinking/Planning:

  • Track new markets and trends and lead sales and client-relationship management
  • Advance product and design collaborations, perform assessments, including market viability, customer targeting, and business case development
  • Develop and maintain business development budget, sales and marketing budget, including agency work
  • Design, suggest, and execute recommended go-to-market strategy and pricing for new and existing products and services
  • Monitor industry developments, innovate strategy and value-add offerings

Leadership:

  • Mentor, develop and lead cross functional teams maximizing contributions of each team member
  • Hire, onboard and train staff to achieve key deliverables
  • Be active in delivering feedback and professional development planning to ensure that our talent is prepared when the business scales or pivots into new market segments

Business Development:

Engage with Sales Manager on a regular basis to:

  • Discuss and develop customer & market strategies
  • Develop and evaluate Sales Manager’s talents to achieve targeted revenues through experiential learning and other educational opportunities
  • Conduct customer sales calls and conduct product demonstrations with sales managers and assigned accounts
  • Evaluate logistical requirements needed to support and grow the market
  • Develop a high functioning and effective customer advisory board to drive the next generation of products and services
  • Attend largest domestic and international trade shows to directly engage with market influencers
  • Oversee current contract draw-down and actively pursue large domestic and international contracts for future crop years
  • Engage with key industry opinion leaders and help foster communication pathways; develop and manage relationships with potential clients, influencers and key parties
  • Continually develop Mill 95 brand and build increased awareness in the market place

Leadership, quality and results are primary focus. Additional position requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, and 10 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience, with at least 5 years in hops/agriculture industry
  • 10 years senior leadership and direct management experience with collaborative and accountable approach and passion for people development
  • Proven knowledge of market and competitive trends with extensive contacts in the hops/ag/brew community
  • Strategic and innovative thinking, professional and relational communication, problem-solving and negotiation skills
  • Up to 30% travel
