Business Development Manager (or Director)

Status: Full-time, salaried + exempt

Reports to: President

The Business Development Manager (or Director) will identify, pursue and win new clients and further cement Covet PR’s stellar reputation in the consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the sales process as well as best practices in the field of public relations and marketing. Candidates with existing knowledge of the latest health and wellness brands and trends will be successful in this role. In addition to spearheading all new business efforts, this role will have the opportunity to identify new streams of revenue and strengthen existing brand partnerships by providing great client service.

  • Firm understanding of client budgets and business objectives

  • Basic knowledge of Apple products, Microsoft office, Google suite and Hubspot 

  • Lead all new business client calls and communications

  • Qualify incoming leads utilizing specific and customized Covet PR data

  • Identify CPG brands to add to our roster, foster those relationships and convert into Covet PR clients

  • Work with agency and industry partners to cultivate prospective relationships and convert leads

  • Maintain a full pipeline of prospective clients in the food, beverage, beauty, lifestyle categories

  • Coordinate and manage pitch teams, proposal process, budget and timelines 

  • Leverage deep industry knowledge, market trends and consumer behaviors to drive strategy and creative ideation for proposals

  • Conduct research to identify potential new streams of revenue

  • Maintain regular check-ins with Operations department to ensure all deliverables are being met

  • Maintain industry knowledge and expertise through constant research, career development tactics, and industry events and tradeshows

  • Lead creative brainstorms and inspire collaboration

  • Maintain accurate timesheets on a daily basis

  • Remain punctual, professional and polished at all work related functions

  • Close the loop on assignments and notify team members when action items are complete

  • Maintain positive client relationships which contribute to the overall revenue growth of the company

Desired Experience

  • 5-10 years professional business development/sales experience, ideally within public relations and/or an agency setting 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field of study, i.e. Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Media Studies
