We are looking for an experienced Quality Assurance and Brewery Operations Manager to join our Craft Brewery startup in Miami. We opened in August 2017 and are well under way. We are a small team that is working hard on creating something truly unique and we need an experienced Quality Assurance and Brewery Operations Manager to join our team. This is still day one, and a lot has yet to be built!

Is comfortable in a lab setting, using sterile technique, troubleshooting instrumentation, and preparing samples

What you’ll do
Be responsible for managing and growing the Quality department at two production brewing locations in Fort Pierce and Miami FL
Refine and establish lab practices, reaction plans, and qualifying new instrumentation
Coordinate initiatives in the brewery that will ensure product integrity and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements
Interact with government agencies and officials regarding food safety and inspections for the brewery
Responsible for tracking and monitoring all Quality parameters including: Food Safety, Microbiology, Consumer Complaints, and more
Oversee and improve the sensory program. This includes: appraising packaged and work in process beer; development and training of sensory panel; establishing and updating “true to brand” standards
Oversee procurement of lab equipment and supplies and manage the lab budget; evaluate new suppliers in order to reduce costs and improve efficiency
Collaborate with the team on Innovation to develop new products and ensure the safety and quality of all new products and processes
Define and standardize new and existing processes and follow-through to ensure all established standards are met
Assist in scheduling and monitoring production schedule for the production brewery
Manage inventory levels and perform inventory counting to ensure all product needed is on site and available
Material procurement for items related to quality, brewing, and/or packaging
What you’ll need
Bachelor of Science degree required - Food/Brewing Science, Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, engineering or related field preferred
4+ years of experience in the food and beverage industry preferred
In depth knowledge of both brewing and packaging processes, including plant sanitation (CIP/COP) practices
Working knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, pest control and allergen control. Expertise in GFSI standards (BRC, FSSC22000, SQF, etc.) preferred
In depth knowledge of food/brewing microbiology and microbiological methods
Strong understanding of Quality Assurance programs, minimum sampling plans, data reliability, statistical process control, etc.
Proven leadership and communication skills (both verbal and written)
Strong computer skills; Excel, Google Suite, OBEER, etc.
Experience managing and leading teams is a plus
Ability to travel frequently within South Florida
