Sandymount Technologies sells beer concentration, transport and dispense technology to brewers, allowing them to adopt a concentrate-based supply chain like Coca Cola. Sandymount's bulk concentrate solutions allow brewers to reduce transport costs between breweries and bottling plants, while Sandymount's draft solutions allow beer to be delivered in mini-kegs to bars. We are looking for someone to fill our Quality Control Manager position.  The ideal candidate would have experience working at a brewery in the quality control laboratory performing both chemical analysis and microbiological testing.  Direct experience in brewing, cellaring, filtration, or packaging is also desirable.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring quality of process and product.

  • Sensory program management.  Carefully and accurately producing samples to taste and evaluate.

  • Care and calibration of quality instruments both in the laboratory and in the field.

  • Media preparation, plating, and enumeration for microorganism testing.

  • Analytical data interpretation, analysis, and preparation, especially as it relates to beer chemistry.

  • Performing and assisting with research and development projects.

  • SOP, HAZOP, and HACCP creation and management.

  • Quality analysis of product including physical and chemical analysis.


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a science related field.

  • 5 years of brewing or brewing quality experience.


Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of use and maintenance with Anton Paar DMA/Alcolyzer, Optek turbidity meter, pH meter, membrane and digital dissolved oxygen meters, viscometer, spectrophotometer, and other lab equipment.

  • Differential aerobic and anaerobic yeast and bacteria media preparation, plating, and enumeration.

  • Gram staining

  • Aseptic technique.

  • Sensory evaluation and off flavor assessment.

  • Strong familiarity with ASBC methods.

  • Knowledge of GMP and FDA regulations as they relate to breweries.

  • Knowledge of HAZOP and HACCP.


Skills:

  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills.

  • Effective writing and presentation skills.

  • Proficiency in Excel.
