POSITION:  2nd Shift Supervisor, Maintenance & Production – Blake’s Hard Cider Co.

DESCRIPTION / JOB SUMMARY
The 2nd Shift Supervisor is responsible for the care, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting of all major production equipment including but not limited to the brewhouse, cellar and tank farm, canning line(s), cartoner(s), keg washers, air compressors, CO2 compressors, pumps, wastewater systems, pneumatics, industrial refrigeration, hot water heaters, and other facilities related equipment.

 

The 2nd shift supervisor will work close with the production manager and production team to develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules to ensure all systems operate optimally and without downtime. This position is based of repetitive, iterative jobs and is well suited for an individual who takes pride in minor details and understands their impact on the success of Blake’s Hard Cider production. This position is full-time and will require the individual to occasionally work odd hours and overnight shifts. The position will report directly to the Production Manager and the Director of Operations.

Responsibilities and Duties

The following list of essential job duties is not all-inclusive; the 2nd shift supervisor is required to perform other duties as directed by management.

  • Working independently to install and maintain manual and automated brewing, cider-making, and packaging equipment to stringent specifications
  • Compliance to all safety programs and the constant practice of safe work techniques
  • Develop and perform routine maintenance programs for the cellar and packaging critical mechanical systems
  • Maintain and oversee the development of an essential spare parts inventory
  • Keep records of repairs and develop or make necessary changes to planned maintenance schedules
  • Work with Line Operators to help train and identify machine and equipment related areas of required maintenance before equipment failure
  • Comply with safety regulations
  • Hard working and creative minded individual
  • Flexibility is a must; unscheduled downtime is an unfortunate reality and will require your expertise at unplanned or unexpected times
  • Must be available to work weekends during the months of September and October to ensure success of our “busy season”


    Education, Skills & Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Relevant work experience (5+ years preferred)
  • Strong and demonstrable knowledge of mechanics and repair
  • Ability to actively listen and cooperatively solve problems and relate well to others
  • Ability to work quickly and lucidly to solve problems
  • Strong troubleshooting/problem solving/logic based/process of elimination skills
  • Exhibits a high degree of professionalism and commitment to following through on all tasks and achieving results
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude and ability to as hard and long as needed to achieve desired results
  • Ability to triage and prioritize daily tasks and long-term projects
  • Passion and desire to continuously self-assess and improve
  • Ability to read and interpret plans. Drawings. Prints and schematics, operating manuals and repair manuals
  • Strong understanding of electronics, instrumentation and programmable logic controllers (PLC’s) in industrial applications
  • Must be able to lift full kegs (165+ pounds) frequently for extended periods of time
