Overview of Position


We are looking for a fun, motivated, and self-starting individual to join the team as an Assistant Taproom Manager. This individual must have a passion for craft beer and enjoy sharing their passion with others.  The Assistant Taproom Manager position will help assist in growing and operating our 320-seat taproom. You will be responsible for delivering an exceptional guest experience and creating guest interactions and relationships through unassuming connections.  You will help manage daily operations, lead a team of bartenders, baristas and retail employees, focusing on customer service and beer knowledge.  Mighty Squirrel is looking for a candidate that is enthusiastic and knowledgeable about craft beer and wants to grow professionally with Mighty Squirrel. The ideal candidate will have management experience, be passionate, committed, relentlessly quality-focused, a good listener, mentor, and teammate. This position will report to our Taproom Manager. You will ideally be able to join our as soon as possible.


About Mighty Squirrel Brewing Co.


Mighty Squirrel was founded by friends and home-brewers Naveen Pawar and Henry Manice in 2015 and has since expanded distribution of its beers across Massachusetts through its partner Atlantic Beverage.  On December 7th 2018, we opened the doors to our 18,000sqft taproom/brewery to the public.  To help keep everyone safe during these challenging times, we opened up a Biergarten in the parking lot next to the brewery/taproom on July 3rd, 2020.  This opened up a total of 43 tables for outdoor seating. Our unique space provides an immersive experience for all guests, highlighting all the steps of crafting beer making from brewing to packaging.  In addition, Mighty Squirrel is always looking to find fun ways to interact with the community through creative events and innovative partnerships. Job Responsibilities


  • Maintain smooth daily/nightly taproom operations while overseeing retail, coffee shop, bar, and special event operations 
  • Follow specific standard operating procedures for all aspects of the taproom, coffee shop, retail bar, and special events
  • Hold all crew members accountable to taproom all SOPs
  • Ensure taproom opening and closing procedures are being followed
  • Oversee and uphold excellence in all areas of customer service, including but not limited to, greeting, educating, processing transactions
  • Assist in the development of business strategies to attract more customers, expand store/taproom traffic, and optimize profitability
  • Maintain clean and inviting/welcoming environment with a primary focus on customer experience
  • Deal with all issues that arise from staff and/or customers
  • Plan, organize, market, and execute events
  • Develop rich partnerships
  • Help coordinate beer releases and tours
  • Ensure all safety protocols are observed in the taproom; train, reinforce and improve a safety culture and attitude in taproom operations
  • Track KPI’s and record key measurements in the taproom (labor, sales, inventory, shrinkage, etc.)
  • Assist in staff meetings and trainings as necessary
  • Utilize social media to consistently promote events and new beer releases
  • Assist in development and maintenance of all taproom marketing pieces/collateral
  • Ensure all staff are trained/certified in conjunction with all MA and federal regulatory requirements
  • Perform consistent (often daily) staff trainings on beer profiles, style history, sensory notes, etc.
  • Represent Mighty Squirrel at industry technical events, conferences, and marketing events
  • Set and maintain appropriate food service standards for any food vendors on the premise
  • Ensure draft equipment is routinely cleaned and serviced
  • Perform preventative maintenance on facility and equipment
  • Become highly proficient in the use of our POS system and continue to update and maintain POS terminals
  • Flexibility to work any taproom position as necessary
  • Must be able to work weekends, evenings, and some holidays


  • Minimum two years of experience managing a taproom/bar
  • Must be TIPS Certified
  • In depth knowledge of the craft beer industry and emerging trends
  • Previous event management experience
  • A college degree is preferred but not required
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-tasking; strong communication skills
  • Ability to lift 55 lbs. and move up to 165 lbs. using traditional methods
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment yet be precise in daily tasks
  • Excellent time management, prioritization, and delegation skills
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and attentive to quality and standards
  • Confident, team-oriented management style
  • Full availability throughout the week: ability to work morning, mid-day, evening, and weekends as needed
  • Must have Server Cicerone Certification, or be willing to attain it
