About the Company  

The Bruery is a boutique craft brewery located in Orange County, CA.  The company goes to market under three brand names; The Bruery, Bruery Terreux, and Offshoot Beer Co, each offering a high quality, unique offering.  The Bruery specializes in barrel aged and experimental ales, Bruery Terreux is focused on innovative wild and sour ales, and Offshoot Brewing Co. is the company’s newest brand that focuses on a rotational hop-forward offering. 

The company has built a strong following among a passionate base of customers, and more than half of The Bruery’s overall sales are direct-to-consumer through the company’s society membership programs and Orange County tasting rooms. The company selectively distributes its products to a network of distributors across the U.S. with a focus on craft beer-centric retail and restaurant accounts.  

Founded as a small, family-run business in 2008, The Bruery takes its unique moniker from founder Patrick Rue’s family surname.

Patrick picked up home brewing as a hobby, which later became an obsession, as a distraction from the banality of law school. Early on, while driving his wife Rachel mad with the messes that he would leave on the kitchen stove, Patrick was winning awards for his beers. Upon finishing school, he took it upon himself to draft a business plan for The Bruery rather than study for the California Bar exam – a risky endeavor that still shows through today in the creative, genre-tilting beers that The Bruery prides itself on.

The Bruery was founded on the excitement that Patrick felt in his early years of homebrewing and continues to strive for that same passion in every aspect of its business today.  The company has never stopped challenging itself to develop distinctive and imaginative beers, and constantly pursues improvement.  The Bruery produces dozens of original beers each year with a perpetually growing list of ingredients and inspirations . Nearly half of The Bruery’s beer is aged in wine or spirit barrels bringing forth flavors reminiscent of the Belgian countryside or classic American distillers.

 

About the Role

The Bruery is looking for a highly-motivated, process driven sales professional with experience calling on National Chain off premise customers and exceeding sales targets on a national level. This role will create and implement the sales strategy and advise the executive team on market trends and process improvements needed to achieve company objectives. The ideal candidate will have a broad knowledge of the craft beer industry, with a solid record of growing profitable sales, distribution and market share through the implementation of local and national initiatives. Must be an effective team player with excellent communication skills and the ability to cultivate strong and lasting relationships internally and externally. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Be an inspirational sales leader and cultural advocate in a company full of passionate brewers.

  • Grow sales volume, market share, product distribution, space allocation, and customer service in all assigned accounts.

  • Manage the development, implementation, and monitoring of national accounts in all geographies. 

  • Create decks and reports for retail reviews and new item placements.

  • Monitor, analyze, and report sales data for the assigned accounts on a bi-weekly/monthly basis to the executive team.

  • Proactively seek out research, sales data, and develop proprietary tools for fact-based selling stories

  • Work closely with the production team and distribution teams to forecast and produce against a metric driven and well thought out plan.

  • Manage and enhance existing distributor relationships, including monthly forecasts and annual release calendars.

  • Strategically target and acquire key accounts in top markets.

  • Closely guard the brand guidelines through each step in which we are represented internally and externally.

  • Maintain knowledge of distribution and competitive trends in each market.

  • Flawlessly communicate with all stakeholders (executive team, internal peers, distributor principals, distributor sales teams, accounts).

Essential Skills and Requirements

  • Proven track record of driving profitable sales growth 

  • 5+ years’ experience in sales, preferably National Accounts

  • Trade knowledge in National Account strategies and execution

  • Long-term strategic planning and vision capabilities

  • Knowledge and experience related to the three-tier sales system

  • Awareness of pertinent beer laws

  • Tech savvy and able to get things done in a fast paced environment

  • Highly proficient in Powerpoint and Excel and willing to learn new technology

  • Highly analytical and willing to work in a collaborative environment

  • Financial and business acumen

  • Excellent influencing skills and an ability to build strong working relationships with people in all areas of the business

  • Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines from concept to completion

  • Regular travel required (with safety protocols in place and as it makes sense for the individual and the business)

  • Optimistic attitude 

  • Ability to work nights and weekends when required

  • Ability to build lasting business relationships
