We are consistently winning market share against direct competitors and legacy baby food brands at Whole Foods and conventional grocery stores. We have distribution across 2,000 stores and are projected to add another 1,000 by the end of 2020. We plan to double revenue in 2021 and launch multiple line extensions.


JOB SUMMARY:

The Vice President of Finance provides leadership in achieving the financial goals and monitoring the financial health of Serenity Kids through coordination of financial planning, debt financing, and budget management functions. S/he will lead cross-functional initiatives to achieve strategic objectives in a rapidly expanding product line while ensuring company accounting procedures and reporting on generally accepted accounting principles. Our ideal candidate is a strong leader and manager as well as both meticulous and strategic. S/he must have previous experience in the CPG industry and a genuine interest in the natural foods space. This role reports directly to the CEO, Serenity Carr, and will play an integral part in the Serenity Kids leadership team.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead, manage, and develop the company’s overall finance function  

• Form a close working relationship with the CEO, the COO, and the VP of Sales, as well as the respective heads and key personnel of all related businesses. Personify and cultivate the company’s value-system in dealing with internal and external partners 

• Ensure that company financial systems are robust, compliant and support current activities and future growth

• Ensure budget and variance monitoring processes and analytics are robust and provide a sound and reliable financial planning base as well as early warning and proactive correction of variances 

• Participate in and, as necessary, lead cross-functional opportunities to improve supply chain, costings, synergies, and raw materials purchasing 

• Oversee the Financial, Legal and Strategic Due Diligence process for any financing-related activities 

• Contribute as required to all strategy discussions, providing guidance on financial and accounting related plans, targets, and business drivers

• Provide strategic guidance around capital financing options to support company growth needs

• Take ultimate responsibility for the company’s accounting, finance, treasury, and cash management policies and practices, including cap table management 

• Define and improve the company’s analytical capabilities in order to ensure that opportunities for value-creation are identified as much as possible 

• Ensure that the regulatory requirements of all statutory bodies are met

• Provide regular updates and act as liaison with investors

• Ensure that adequate short and long term tax planning and reporting is in place to optimize the company’s future value


JOB REQUIREMENTS:  

  • 8+ years of progressive, senior finance and accounting experience

  • 3+ years of CPG or related industry experience

  • Food and Beverage experience strongly preferred 

  • Venture capital or mergers and acquisition experience preferred

  • Entrepreneurial-minded, forward-looking finance professional with strong strategic planning, rapid modeling, forecasting, and analysis skills/experience

  • Self-starter, confident in taking the vision from beginning to end 

  • Must be open, honest, transparent, scrappy, smart, and passionate about building a brand

  • Experience with QuickBooks Online and DEAR inventory a plus 

  • Skilled at evaluating and prioritizing ideas and investments to ensure the company focuses on those with the best long-term return
