Sweet Nothings makes frozen spoonable smoothies from organic fruits, nuts and seeds – think of it as a cup of smoothie ingredients that you eat like ice cream. Our plant-based products contain no dairy, no added sugar, and no ingredients you can’t pronounce. We’re on a mission to prove that healthy can, and should, taste delicious. 

In just 6 months since our retail launch, our product is available at 1000+ stores across the country, including Erewhon, Gelson’s, Fred Meyer, King Soopers, Ralphs and more. The business is growing rapidly, and we are looking for a sales leader that is excited to help drive that growth. In this role, you will report directly to our Co-Founder and CEO and you will have oversight of all sales activities across channels. Likewise, you will serve as the primary touchpoint for our sales brokers and key retail partners. 

This is the perfect role for a sales leader that enjoys being scrappy and is ready to roll up their sleeves immediately. We are looking for a Director of Sales that has the experience to build a strategic plan as well as the ability to execute day-to-day responsibilities such as: key account management, planning, and forecasting, data analysis, new product launch plans, marketing & trade programs and in-store execution.

Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Manage and lead our outsourced sales team, broker and distributor networks, and ensure exceptional performance in multiple retail channels

  • Grow current key accounts and onshelf presence by determining and implementing promo schedules, working with buyer on all possible levers to increase velocities and securing optimal placement

  • Maintain and develop sales forecast, working with Ops/Production team closely to ensure alignment on supply needs and product profitability

  • Develop and hit key sales targets including: revenue, units, velocity, trade spend, stores, forecast accuracy, ACV, etc., while being fully aligned with the broader company mission and financial objectives

  • Work with VP of Finance to measure trade promotions (ROI and volume lifts) and review performance vs. plan 

  • Work closely with marketing to ensure a coordinated approach to the consumer and customer including merchandising efforts, in-store marketing materials and field marketing programs

  • Monitor and leverage UNFI, KeHE and syndicated data sources to understand what is working, and what is not, across channels

  • Create unique sales deck, strategy and promo plan retail pitches


Job Requirements:


  • 5+ years experience in strategic sales management within CPG

  • Successfully been a functional head of sales in a wellness based CPG product

  • Track record for success in acquiring new grocery accounts, new doors within existing accounts, and in improving velocity per store with successful trade marketing strategies

  • Experience selling better-for-you products into natural, conventional, and mass, experience with a frozen product preferred

  • Outstanding analytical skills to use data in decision making

  • Comfort working in a productive environment as a hands-on team player who can also operate independently

  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Highly organized, high level of attention to detail, good communicator and presenter 

  • Self-starter who is comfortable working remote

  • Lives the mantra “no job too small” and is excited about contributing in a variety of ways in a start-up environment
