Job Title: Director of Operations and Quality


Location: Boston, MA or Brooklyn, NY


Job Responsibilities:

  • Own the Operations and Quality function at Q Drinks
  •  Develop and codify comprehensive quality control policies, procedures, and metrics for all areas of operations, including production, warehousing, and shipping. Manage ongoing quality control to ensure that high standards are met. Implement processes to catch any quality issues before products leave our warehouses
  • Continuously improving process controls to ensure consistent manufacturing of the highest quality finished goods
  • Act as First and last line of defense, assuming total responsibility for insuring product quality
  • Personally lead response to quality issues when they do occur. Minimize customer impact, investigate, and understand causes, and revise policies/procedures to address weaknesses and prevent similar problems from occurring again
  • Maintain on-site presence at all production runs
    • Execute line checks before/during production to ensure product/packaging specification compliance
    • Manage batching, lab tests, and retain collection
    • Provide on-site physical inventory reconciliation
  • Collect, track, and analyze quality, production, and loss data
  • Produce clear, effective reports which detail key quality and production metrics
  • Periodically conducts inspections of warehoused finished goods
  • Conduct in-person inspections of product in market in the event of a product quality concern
  • Work closely with the VP of Operations to develop, coordinate, and execute all production plans nationwide
  • Forecast raw material needs based on twelve month rolling production plan
    • Communicate this forecast to the Director of supply chain
  • Work closely with the Director of Supply Chain to manage logistics surrounding raw materials, components, and finished goods
  • Own co-packer relationships. Maintain and enhance existing strong relationships by operating with openness and integrity
  • Travel as necessary (50-75% expected)


    Ideal Background:

  • A burning desire to build something great. A willingness to work hard to do so
  • 3+ years operations experience in food and beverage, with progressing levels of responsibility
  • Experience managing third-party food and beverage manufacturing and distribution centers (beverage, especially carbonated beverage, is preferred)
  • An entrepreneurial, aggressive, and resilient attitude. Willingness (and eagerness) to jump in, get your hands dirty, and lead by example
  • A sense of positive urgency and ability to prioritize. Ability to deliver quickly, under pressure, without error
  • Self-direction: sufficiently driven to work alone, organized to develop own plans, and strong enough to see them through. Ability to multitask
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal skills
  • Humility – ability to learn from mistakes, see things in a new light and break from established practices. Does not take self too seriously
  • Willingness to travel 50% of the time
