Job Description
The Director of E-Commerce Growth reports to the VP of E-Commerce Growth. The Director is accountable to maximizing acquisition, sales, retention, and customer experience on Shopify while managing closely to a P&L. As a result, we are looking for an exceptionally thoughtful, curious, and data focused growth marketer. This role will oversee Acquisition (Search, Paid, Ad Creative, Landing Pages), Retention/Winback (Subscription, Email, SMS), Site, Merchandising, and Conversion Rate Optimization.
The ideal candidate is equal parts technical and creative, and enjoys getting to the granular levels of detail on each as it applies to succeeding in your field. You care deeply about the customer journey and are passionate about testing and iterating in order to find efficiency gains at every stage of the funnel. Lastly, we are looking for a team player as comfortable doing the detailed work as they are capable of developing long-term strategy, vision and meaningful change.
Core Responsibilities
Lead strategy, forecasting, and execution of acquisition and retention efforts
Scale performance marketing efficiently across paid (Social, PPC, Affiliate, Podcast, Display) and organic (SEO, Email, SMS)
Prioritize the subscriber, subscription experience, and retention relative to MRR
Leverage a variety of tools and tactics to consistently increase AOV over time
Develop daily, weekly, monthly channel KPI targets and manage sales and marketing spends accordingly
Set the standard for fast A/B testing, experimentation and iteration to continuously improve acquisition offers and advertising performance
Structure, develop and retain a highly talented agency and freelance roster to accomplish the business objectives on budget
Write and optimize briefs for ad and site creative, providing detailed and actionable feedback to partners, internal and external
Identify, hire, and manage a team of creative partners to consistently develop engaging and innovative ad concepts to increase efficiency of ad spend
Establish the req’d analytics tools and frameworks to inform decision making
Quickly catch bugs/issues and act urgently to address
Required Skills
Excellent understanding of online retail and user experience
Must be detail-oriented and possess superior organization skills
Ability to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
Ability to work independently and with a sense of urgency
Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally and with multiple levels of seniority
Ability to empathize with consumer personas different to yourself
A great degree of creativity and day-to-day flexibility is required
A natural eye for detail and visual aesthetics is required
Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong analytical skills and a technical can-do attitude
Required Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, or Psychology preferred
3+ years experience developing, optimizing, managing budgets on large-scale digital marketing campaigns, growth, and revenue for DTC companies
Proven success in building and optimizing marketing funnels and acquiring customers efficiently for healthy CAC/LTV and payback periods for a business
Consumer packaged goods industry experience is a plus
Experience with e-commerce platforms Shopify, Klaviyo, Postscript, and others
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Google Sheets and/or Microsoft Excel
Creative background in copywriting and/or graphic design a plus
