Summary of Position:

The Brewer at Crooked Hammock Brewery is responsible for brewing beer and working with our Director of Brewery Operations and/or Lead Brewer to meet management’s expectations and business needs.  Brewers are responsible for everything brewery and beer related.  Brewer is responsible for meeting production needs, upholding quality standards, training and educating staff members, and maintaining a clean and positive work environment.  Brewers are responsible for upholding brand standards and acting in the best interest of the business.  Must Enjoy the Ride!

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Brew delicious beer and meet management’s  expectations for the brewery and brewed products
  • Be knowledgeable of and able to perform tank cleaning and sanitization;
  • Be knowledgeable of procedures and techniques associated with, and able to perform, product transfer;
  • Manage a high quality, efficient brewery operation to meet department deliverables;
  • Provide expert knowledge of the brewing process/ingredients; troubleshoot quality & production issues
  • Provide expert knowledge and understanding of brewery equipment, including maintenance and repair;
  • Effectively communicate all brewery happenings with restaurant team and management;
  • Engage, educate, and promote brewed products to restaurant guests and staff;
  • Create a safe, clean, organized, and healthy work environment in the brewery;
  • Check and maintain proper beer holding and serving temperature;
  • Prepare all required paperwork and forms in an organized and timely manner;
  • Follow appropriate cleaning schedules for floors, brewhouse, brewery, tanks, mill room, walk-in  cooler, other brewing equipment, indoor and outdoor storage and brewing related areas;
  • Live the brand & be a brand ambassador, and make decisions in the best interest of the brewery every time

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 1-2 year of experience as a brewer/brewers assistant;
  • Strong understanding of brewing science, brewery technology and brewery operations;
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation;
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States;
  • Must agree to background and credit check;
  • An understanding of federal and state regulations regarding brewed beer products;
  • Professional communication skills both verbal and written. Will communicate with managers, kitchen and dining room personnel, as well as guests;
  • Strong planning and organizational skills. A self starting work ethic and the ability to multitask, prioritize and adapt to changing situations;
  • Proficiency in computer usage and Google Suite, record keeping, and filing;
  • Proper handling of hazardous materials and operation of complex moving machinery;
  • Frequently walk and occasionally bend over, twist, kneel, climb, stoop and crouch. This position requires the ability to lift up to 55 pounds and maneuver 170 pounds;
  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time;
  • Ability to work flexible hours is required, including off shifts.
