Zilker Brewing Company is expanding our distribution footprint and offerings in Central Texas and is seeking a talented and experienced Canning Line Manager to join our team. Close to downtown Austin, TX; we are an urban brewery with a focus on distinctive small batch brews and a solid core lineup of beer for wider distribution.
Primary Duties
Daily setup, CIP and SIP of a PSA 6 head filler, de-palletizer, date coder, Paktech applicator, and conveyors
Monitor CO2 and O2 content of packaged beer with Anton-Paar C-box
Maintain cleanliness of the packaging hall and equipment
Manage inventory of all supplies. Cans, lids, pak-tec, labels, etc and report when stock is running low.
Follow all SOP’s to ensure quality of packaged beer.
Filler, seamer, and line operation
Management of canning line team
Record keeping of packaged product filled
Checking/Ensuring packaged beer is within specification before/during line runs
Checking can seams throughout runs
Perform canning line equipment routine maintenance
Ensuring line is cleaned outside and around the canning area (with help of the canning team)
Future canning staff training
Keg filling
Keg washing using a Premier Stainless 3 head automatic keg cleaning system
Other Canning/Warehousing needs as they arise
Desired Education, Experience, and Skills:
Bachelor's Degree (Preferred)
Canning/bottling line experience (Preferred)
2+ Years relevant experience in a craft brewery or related industry (Required)
Working knowledge of the brewing process (Required)
Knowledge of and passion for craft beer and brewing (Required)
Experience in forklift/personnel lift operations
Ability to work at a fast pace, in high pressure situations, while maintaining professionalism and composure
Flexible schedule and adaptive to change
Ability to learn quickly and apply new procedures and skills
Strong organizational and communication skills
Is generally happy and can have fun, even on high stress and demanding days
Self starter with strong work ethic
Physical Demands
Standing for long periods of time.
Frequent walking, bending, twisting, kneeling, climbing, stooping, crawling and crouching.
Must be able to correctly lift up to 50 lbs to shoulder height and push or pull up to 160 lbs.
Use of ladders.
Physical ability to handle pallets of inventory that weigh up to 2,500 lb. using a pallet jack/forklift
Must be able to work in hot, cold, wet, loud, and unpredictable environments.
Must be able to work around steam, electricity, harsh chemicals, and solvents.
Ability to perform repetitive tasks in a production-line setting.
This position may come into direct contact with hazardous materials such as chemicals, noise and equipment. Hazardous materials include CO2 as well as loud noises as part of the brewing process.
Teamwork/Communication
Fosters a culture of education, internal collaboration, and continuous process improvement.
Contributes to weekly team meetings along with head brewer.
Communicates changes in process, expectations, personnel, equipment, etc. effectively and promptly with all necessary personnel.
Flexibility
All staff will be expected to fill multiple roles as necessary to ensure smooth operation and the success of the brand. This is the nature of a smaller craft brewery, especially one seeking to grow either in production volume or quality.
Willingness to do tasks outside the scope of the Lead Brewer position (cellar work eg.).

Accessible for remote communication in off hours
Willing to work staggered shifts as required by the production schedule
Willing to work weekends if required by the production schedule.
