We are looking for an outgoing, welcoming, beer-lover to be the newest member of our Tap Room staff. The Temperance Tap Room is the best place for guests to experience our beer and fall in love with Temperance. Because of this, providing an incredible craft beer experience is essential – from the service guests receive, to the beers they enjoy, and the environment in which they find themselves. Our Tap Room Staff serve as the most powerful and meaningful way we create a connection with and among our consumers. For many people, you are the face of Temperance. Therefore, it’s imperative that all staff make sure our guests have a fantastic time enjoying delicious beers in the Tap Room.

Job Requirements

  • Punctuality, responsibility, honesty, accountability, and trustworthiness
  • Exceptional customer service skills 
  • Ability to manage competing priorities within a dynamic environment
  • Flexible work schedule, including weekends and nights
  • Possess a love for and knowledge of craft beer
  • Prior bar/restaurant/tap room server experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of craft beer, including basic understanding of beer production (Cicerone Beer Server or similar certification preferred) 
  • Ability to anticipate and proactively address problems in a fast-paced environment 
  • Positive attitude and ability to work and engage with diverse populations
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time (up to 8-12 hours per day).
  • Ability to move heavy materials (lifting up to 50 lbs, moving up to 170 lbs with assistance)
  • Routine pushing, pulling, reaching, stooping, bending
  • Ability to work in hot and cold environments

Job Duties

  • Assist customers in their beer selections by effectively communicating information about our beer styles and brewing process
  • Anticipate guests' service needs, including asking questions of guests to better understand their needs and watching/listening to guest preferences and acting on them whenever possible
  • Address guests' service needs in a professional, positive, and timely manner
  • Memorize our food and beverage menus and make recommendations to our guests
  • Serve pours in accordance with our quality standards
  • Operate and troubleshoot draft equipment and move and change kegs as necessary
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of bar area 
  • Open and close according to Temperance opening and closing procedures
  • Assist during private events and special releases as necessary
  • Ensure that the beers on tap are acceptable to serve (right temperature, optimal quality, no off-flavors or aromas) 
  • Operate and understand core functions of POS systems (Tock & Square)
  • Operate within local, state, and federal liquor laws
