We are hiring a full-time Cellar Worker at our Brewery and Distillery in the Mission Bay District of San Francisco. The brewery consists of a 30bbl brewhouse and 14 60bbl fermentation tanks. This person will be a key production team member responsible for taking care of the beer in the fermentation tanks through to packaging. We operate a Cask canning line and fill kegs manually. We also package spirits on manually operated equipment

The Cellar Worker is responsible for completing and overseeing cellar and packaging operations to ensure excellence and efficiency in all aspects of the brewing process. This role includes, but not limited to, the following:

·        Maintaining a safe work environment

·        Raw ingredient handling

·        Yeast handling

·        Practical knowledge of and ability to operate in the cellar including but not limited to:  Cellar Reports and Lab work, Fermenter additions, Green and Bright beer conditioning and monitoring, Packaging set-up and sterilization

·        Cleaning

·        Mechanical maintenance and Trouble-shooting

·        Work with management to implement and refine procedures for quality and efficiency

·        Work with management on special tasks and projects to further the ability and resources of the Production Team

·        Packaging operations including can line operation, manual kegging, keg washing, and manual spirits packaging


Knowledge/Experience/ Education Required:

·        High School Diploma

·        Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills

·        Proficient at math and basic lab work

·        Must be detail-oriented

·        Must work well alone and with others to accomplish both simple and complicated tasks toward concrete goals

·        Knowledge and understanding of various beer styles and types


Knowledge/Experience/Education Preferred:

·        Degree or experience in Science, Math, Engineering, or Brewing/Fermentation Science

·        2 years experience working at a brewery as a Cellar Worker, Packaging Technician, or equivalent

·        Experience working on a team to complete complex tasks efficiently


Physical Requirements:

·        Reading and writing skills

·        Communicative in English

·        Ability to stand for at least 8 hours, five days per week

·        Reach, lift, bend, stoop, climb, walk, push and pull items weighing up to 180lbs (1 full keg)

·        Some days may be physically strenuous

·        Hours of operation are variable based on department needs, including mornings, evenings and weekends

·        Manual dexterity

·        Auditory and visual skills

·        Ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures
