About the VP Sales role:

The Lord Hobo Brewing Company VP Sales is responsible for managing an experienced and aggressive sales team, obtaining/maintaining key customer relationships, and delivering annual targets through a concise sales strategy and planning process with Distributors. This position will also work closely with the marketing team, brewery operations team to ensure efficient delivery of Lord Hobo products to Distributors. The VP Sales will be an integral member of the Lord Hobo Management Team and will participate in the planning, development, and execution of key beverage business objectives. They know their job is to build our brand’s footprint, assist in driving sales velocity, and they welcome the challenge of growth that comes with this role.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop annual and multi-year sales plans in support of organization’s strategic goals and objectives, including distributor and multi-channel selling strategies and tactics

  • Knows how to build a regional strategy across a growing product portfolio which includes beer, liquor/spirits, and other product segments

  • Develop strategies and brand priorities for inclusion in annual business planning meetings for both national accounts and distributor partners. Work directly with Distributors during annual, quarterly, and monthly business planning meetings

  • Comfortable on the road visiting with Distributors, and retail accounts

  • Oversee and evaluate all existing markets with the sales team to ensure success

  • Comfortable driving both On and Off premise sales initiatives and defining budgeting requirements for Lord Hobo vs the Distributor network

  • Comfortable identifying and developing plans regionally that accelerate long-term growth

  • Deliver sales presentations to key clients or distributors in coordination with regional managers

  • Develop, groom, and evaluate, the sales department, while recommending and executing changes as required for continued long-term growth

  • Ability to adjust sales team make-up to meet changing market & competitive conditions

  • Lead, coach and challenge the sales team and provide accountability for meeting deadlines of tangible deliverables while ensuring customer service standards are met

  • Responsible for developing and managing a sales team capable of carrying out needed sales and service initiatives. Identify key metrics of success relative to the performance of the sales team and ensure accountability for their performance

  • Analyze and control expenditures of the sales team to conform to budgetary requirements Make any necessary adjustments to expenditures throughout the fiscal year while being sensitive to the company’s operating budget

  • Understands, leverages the power of our retail businesses to create deeper interactions with Distributors and Retail accounts

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's and/or Master’s degree in related field or equivalent required

  • 10+ years of experience in the brewing industry, preferably within a top 100 brewery in the United States

  • Experience, knowledge and demonstrated skills relating to distribution, national accounts, retail sales, market analytics, inventory management, forecasting and budgeting

  • Required experience in leading the development of beer and liquor / spirit brands

  • Proven track-record of growth or turn-around in the beverage industry

  • Has managed a sales team and set KPIs

  • Proven track record of building brands through Distributor partnerships

  • Proven track record of working with national accounts

  • Proven track record of working in the New England market and particularly in core markets

  • Superior verbal and written communication skills

  • Computer skills - the candidate must be proficient in utilizing all sales tools (SAP/Netsuite, VIP, Karma, IRI Data, PPT, EXCEL, etc.) – must be able to build their own analyses – while also leveraging/delegating to their sales team resources - as and when required

  • Provides timely and helpful information to others across the organization

Reporting structure:

  • Reports directly to the CEO

  • As a member of the Management Team, works closely with all other members

  • Oversees and manages the Sales team

  • Will work directly with the VP of Marketing (lateral) to develop long-term cohesive plans, programs, and activations

  • Works with key relationships and connections with top vendors, distributors, and retailers
