Cadbury sets May 7 as date to spin off American drinks division

Cadbury Schweppes Americas Beverages will cease to exist on May 7, when the Dr. Pepper Snapple Group will replace it – as long as the company’s shareholders agree.

The shareholders will vote on April 11 on whether or not to approve the demerger for which Cadbury has already secured credit agreements, the Dallas Business Journal reported.

The UK-based candy maker announced in March 2007 that it would separate its North American drinks business, which handles the brands Dr. Pepper, Snapple, 7UP, Sunkist, Canada Dry, Schweppes, Motts, Hawaiian Punch and Clamato.
