Coke to expand Honest distribution

The Coca-Cola Co. Inc. intends to expand the distribution of Honest Tea, possibly increasing sales of the brand – partly owned by Coke – by 70 percent.

Honest Tea co-founder and president Seth Goldman told Bloomberg news Friday that Coca-Cola Enterprises and the majority of the franchise distributors committed to the expansions, which includes some Wal-Mart locations.

The Coke expansion won’t include New York and some Mid-Atlantic markets, where Honest will keep its independent distributing network, Goldman said. However, Coke bottlers will distribute Honest in western and northeastern states. CVS recently agreed to sell four flavors nationally.
