BevNET is pleased to announce the addition of an exciting speaker to the program: Beth Kaplan, the president and chief marketing and merchandising officer of the 4,800-store GNC (General Nutrition Centers, Inc.) chain, will address the conference on the afternoon of Tuesday, June 7.
Ms. Kaplan, who recently oversaw the launch of a beverage product by her company in concert with PepsiCo, Inc. – a new brand of fortified coconut water called Phenom – will introduce attendees to GNC and the fitness-oriented GNC consumer, speak on the kinds of products that fit the GNC profile, and discuss how beverage companies can best work with the retailer. Additionally, she will discuss many of the considerations that went into the development of Phenom.
GNC has become a force in the area of fitness and athletic performance as it relates to nutrition, and is the largest U.S. specialty retailer of nutritional supplements. The company recently went public via IPO and also growing internationally. Ms. Kaplan, worked previously at Bath & Body Works, where she was executive vice-president and general merchandise manager. She also worked in a similar role at Rite Aid Drugstores, and before that was president and general manager of the Cosmetics and Fragrance Division at Proctor & Gamble.
