Honest Tea Co-Founder and “Tea-EO” Seth Goldman will speak at this winter’s BevNET Live event scheduled for Dec. 6 and 7 in Santa Monica, Calif. Goldman, who started the company in 1998 with partner (and Yale School of Management Professor) Barry Nalebuff, has become symbolic of the “next generation” of beverage executives who are interested in maintaining social and nutritional priorities – in addition to great tasting drinks — as part of their brand DNA.
Goldman reached a deal with the Coca-Cola Co.’s Venturing and Emerging Brands (VEB) Unit to sell 40 percent of Honest Tea, with an option for Coke to eventually purchase the rest. He nevertheless remains a fierce advocate of independent operation on the part of entrepreneurial beverage companies and will be offering advice on maintaining that independence in a speech called “Build Out, Sell Out, or Flame Out: Finding the Best Growth Strategy.”
More speaker announcements will follow in the near future as BevNET Live’s Winter 2010 event details become available.
