BevNET is pleased to announce that Solixir founder Scott Lerner will join the BevNET Live program in Santa Monica to speak on the infinite dilemma of the entrepreneur — the way that finding investment solves some problems — but also often creates more that there were before.
During his talk, “Moving Beyond Bootstrapping? Here’s What More Capital Solves — and Doesn’t,” Lerner will discuss the ways that an increased capital investment gave his brand access to the cash it, like all brands, desperately needed to be able to grow and scale. The talk will show that money doesn’t solve everything, however, as Lerner will also provide thoughts about the ways he felt that capital was successfully deployed — and some of the ways he’d have used it differently.
Lerner will give a look at the state of his company at the time of the investment, as well as look back over the lessons learned prior to the investment that led to the decision to take on a larger investment partner. Having recently sold Solixir to another beverage company, Lerner is freshly able to provide attendees with an assessment of the impact of the decisions made when the initial investment came in, and to offer advice on how other entrepreneurs should think about the opportunities — and strings — that can come with a capital infusion.
Lerner will also be participating in breakout sessions during BevNET Live.
At a time when purse strings are opening and small brands are once again being targeted by investors, Lerner’s insights should serve as a valuable guide to what is usually seen as the ultimate opportunity.

His marketing experience includes managing such leading iconic brands as Scott Tissue, Parkay Margarine, Quaker Oats and Naked Juice.
Lerner received his undergraduate degree at the University of Maryland and his MBA at Case Western University. Lerner’s hobbies include teaching, lifting weights, running, cooking, and coaching his children’s sport teams.
