O.N.E.’s LaShawn Merritt Runs Fast & Deep Wins 400 M with Best Time

Los Angeles, CA (June 28, 2012) — When gold medal sprinter LaShawn Merritt won the men’s 400-meter finals last Sunday, he had two things on his mind. One, defending his world championships.  Two, his deceased, older brother Antwan, who is the inspiration for his running and for much of what he does with his life.

As he does with every race, Merritt touched two fingers to his lips and reached them high over his head, as a tribute to his brother. From this moment of deep reflection and respect, Merritt bolted out of the blocks and, has been the case consistently all year, by the time he hit the tape at the finish line, he left the competition at his heels, finishing in :44:12 – the fastest 400 m time of 2012.

A new video profile produced by O.N.E. Coconut Water, written and directed by John Ford, celebrates LaShawn’s moving story, the inspiration he draws from it and his motivation to inspire others to move. Merritt is serving as the lead member of O.N.E.’s team MOVE – a cohort of exceptional athletes working with O.N.E. to inspire others to MOVE, with body, mind and spirit, for health and well-being.
