Boston, MA (December 2014) – In early 2015, Boston Harbor Distillery (BHD) will open at The Port on Boston Harbor in Dorchester, reviving an entrepreneurial center from the mid-1800s. Boston Harbor Distillery will create proprietary craft spirits that integrate rich history, distinctive experiences and beverage culture into each bottle it produces. Housed in a pre-Civil War era building overlooking Boston Harbor, the Distillery will serve as both a distilling facility and an event space, tasting room and mercantile with essential tools and accessories for at-home bartenders, cultivating a community through classes, literature and education.
BHD will pull inspiration from New England’s bounty of seasonal tastes to bottle their own distilled and blended creations, which will be branded with the names of early Massachusetts entrepreneurs who once occupied the same site: Putnam New England Whiskey, Lawley’s New England Spirit and Seymour’s Coffee Liqueur.
Award-winning Master Distiller John Couchot leads the program and brings over a decade of experience being at the forefront of the craft distilling movement.
Boston Harbor Distillery is founded by beverage industry thought leader Rhonda Kallman, CEO. Among her many career highlights, Kallman co-founded Boston Beer Company, brewer of Sam Adams Beer, now the most successful craft beer company in the world (NYSE:SAM), As an early pioneer, Kallman was instrumental in paving the way for craft beer acceptance by making it available throughout the US and for women in the industry to earn the respect and credibility they deserve.
Corey Bunnewith, Co-founder and Proprietor, is a beverage industry expert that has worked tirelessly to enhance Boston’s cocktail culture. He has worked alongside bartender John Gertsen at Drink, with chefs Jamie Bissonnette and Ken Oringer at Coppa and behind the bar of The Citizen.
