Brand celebrates 50th anniversary and invests in new look for product
(St. Louis) September 8, 2014 – St. Louis-based Luxco announced it is revamping the look of Canadian whisky Lord Calvert® – returning to the original embossed bottle and refreshing the product’s label.
“Lord Calvert was one of the first Canadian whiskies to hit the market when the trend started in the 1970’s. The smooth, softer flavor with a touch of sweetness comes from a mixture of rye, corn, wheat and barley mash distilled and aged for 36 months in the heart of Canada,” says Steve Einig, chief marketing officer at Luxco.
The current round bottle will be phased out of production being replaced with the proprietary sturdier and embossed glass square bottle. The bottle was created and produced by the Ardagh Group.
The square bottle is available in 1.75L and 1L. The product is also available in 750ml, 375ml, 200ml, 100ml and 50ml sizes.
“When we purchased this brand from Beam in 2012, we received feedback from consumers and trade partners to bring back the square bottle –the change is both about demand, as well as bringing the brand back to its roots,” says Einig. “With the square bottle, more expensive glass and contemporary logo and label, the package now matches the quality of the whisky inside.”
The new refreshed label, designed by Rogers/Townsend, is a modernized version of the previous design and adds an updated and modern look to the brand.
“There is certainly a demand for this product and a loyal following,” said Einig.
Luxco will also be celebrating the brand’s anniversary with logo products available on luxco.com.
