Suerte Tequila Opens Flagship Tasting Room and Restaurant in Mexico

BOULDER, Colo. — Suerte, the small-batch, single-distillery tequila maker, announced the opening of El Conejo, their tequila tasting room and restaurant in Sayulita, Mexico on July 1, 2018.

“Sayulita has long been a favorite location for the vibrant culture, art, and excellent surf,” said Suerte Co-founder Lance Sokol. “After getting to know the community, we knew a tequila tasting room with a unique restaurant would be welcomed. El Conejo is a great opportunity to introduce our traditionally made tequilas to travelers who can relive their experience back at home with Suerte.”

Suerte Tequila is crafted from 100 percent Tahona-crushed blue weber agave that is slow roasted in brick ovens and double-distilled. The Reposado, Añejo and Extra Añejo are aged in charred American White Oak whiskey barrels for seven months, two years and seven years, respectively. Currently available in 24 states, Suerte will now be available for purchase in Mexico at El Conejo.

To bring a piece of Suerte’s distillery in Atotonilco El Alto to life in Sayulita, El Conejo will have a sculptural Tahona cut into the wall. It will give patrons the opportunity to understand the scale of the 2-ton stone that Suerte uses to crush all of their tequilas. Other unique considerations were installing a water filtration system that ensures purified water is used throughout the restaurant and served to patrons in reusable glass bottles to help reduce the growing problem of single-use disposable plastic. In addition, El Conejo will source local produce and protein to create healthy, Asian-inspired cuisine. Suerte’s signature spirits and cocktails will be served at El Conejo, which means “the rabbit,” as well as their Extra Añejo and exclusive small batch tequilas.
