Beet Performer is a beet juice beverage that is being marketed as a performance product. This 100 percent juice product is made with laco-fermented beets, which have been juiced and enhanced with vitamin B12. The flavor of the product is exactly what you’d expect: beets, beets, and more beets. It’s definitely something that will be pretty polarizing, starting from the second you see the dark red liquid that pours from the can. That being said, it’s going to be hard to Beet Performer to “own” this niche as you can find pure beet juice in from a variety of other brands. That ultimately leaves the packaging and branding as the key areas of differentiation for the product. While we’re not sold on an 8 oz. can as the best format for a performance product, it’s certainly something that gives this product a chance to have a niche of its own. However, when it comes to the design of the product, we think there’s still a lot of room to improve. It’s a bit too much about beets and not enough about performance, aside from the slightly technical looking font that the company uses on the logo. Furthermore, we do question whether or not it should typecast the product to being a performance beverage or simply a general health drink (the former seems like an extremely limited niche). In any event, we do think the company should make it more visually appealing, at least to the point where the design feels like something that’s polished looking. Overall, this is definitely a very palatable beet-based beverage, but we feel as though the company needs to do more to really carve out a meaningful market for this product.
