Review: Bhakti Chai Nog

Of Bhakti Chai's two holiday varieties, this one is slightly more adventurous. It starts out with a base of fresh chai, which is made with almond milk and flavored with ginger, cardamom, nutmeg, and cloves. From there, the company has added seasonal spices to add the “nog” flavor. But it’s a pretty subtle addition, with the chai spices ultimately winning out as you take a couple sips of the product. The reason that we say that it’s slightly more adventurous is because of the finish, which is really where the nog flavor hits your palate. Finally, there’s a decent amount of sweetness to this product from the addition of cane sugar (20g of sugars per 8 oz. serving). We honestly wouldn’t mind a little less. All in all, this eggnog-inspired product is pretty tasty, although we’d prefer Bhakti's classic chai or the Noir variety. As far as the packaging goes, it’s a 32 oz. glass bottle that’s the same style as the company's single-serve package. The white text on a metallic silver background is somewhat hard to read, while the branding still feels like a work in progress. We’re not trying to sound negative about this product’s look, but there is an opportunity for Bhakti to step it up and really develop into a brand. Overall, a unique flavor, but we think that Bhakti's other flavors will win out.
