Review: Creamy Double Chocolate

Posted: Sep 27, 2006 at 12:00 AM (Last Updated: Dec 19, 2006 at 10:53 AM)
This “meal-on-the-move” offering from Bravo offers plenty of protein (14 grams) to keep energy levels up, and a rich, luscious, melted-chocolate shrink wrapper to entice consumers. It also offers plenty of Splenda-enhanced chocolate flavor, which is where things start to go south. The first hit of chocolate is okay and certainly creamy enough, but the rush of artificial sweetener’s aftertaste is pretty severe, and stays with you to the point where it cuts into the flavor altogether, so that it just doesn’t seem all that much like milk anymore. With all the chocolate and protein in this product, a little less Splenda and a few more carbohydrates’ worth of sugar wouldn’t be a bad idea. Still, if you’ve got to have something to hold you over to the next meal, there are worse choices.
