Review: Banapple-Berry

Using a blend of banana, apple, blackberry and blueberry purees/juices, the Banapple-Berry flavor of Chia\Vie is very mainstream and enjoyable. The added ground chia seed adds some grit to the flavor, but it doesn’t seems like something that would take much getting used to. Plus, it helps to temper the sweetness of the drink, which isn’t a bad thing in our book. Nutritionally, this product has lots of benefits from the use of ground chia and fruit juice, including vitamins, fiber, protein, potassium, and omega 3, 6, and 9. On the outside, the new fully wrapped 12 oz. PET bottle (it used to be in a 10 oz. aluminum bottle) has a sleek and polished look. However, we’re not really sure that the slash in the name Chia\Vie is really needed or helpful (it doesn’t really add anything to the brand, so it’s potentially a distraction). It might also be worth more prominently calling out the fact that the drink has no added sugar. Otherwise, the overall look of the design that they’ve created seems like a good fit and it’s been executed nicely. Overall, a very solid product that offers some nice differentiation (ground chia) to the burgeoning chia category of beverages.
