Cocoa Loco is billed as being a protein and greens beverage that is also fortified with probiotics (500 million CFUs). Ingredients include apple juice, water, hemp seeds, coconut nectar, lemon juice, cocoa powder, vanilla and wheatgrass. The flavor profile of the product is like a thinner version of one of the hemp milk offerings that is a part of Daily Greens’ core line. In addition, this product has more pronounced apple, coconut, and lemon flavors, which definitely make it a bit more mainstream-oriented. There isn’t much in the way of cocoa flavor, which, for a product called Cocoa Loco, is slightly surprising. Still, the overall flavor of the product is quite enjoyable. Furthermore, we like the fact that the product has 80 calories (and 15g of sugar) per 8 oz. bottle. Nutritionally, it also has 4g of protein, 2g of fiber, calcium (2 percent), vitamin C (4 percent), and iron (10 percent). Plus, it has the probiotic content, which should add to the overall marketability of the drink. Ultimately, the 8 oz. size makes for a more modestly portioned product in comparison to the 16 or 14 oz. size that much of the high pressure processed juice category is still focused on. Beyond that, we very much like the look of the product. The yellow-colored label catches the eye and, when paired with the brownish-colored liquid, it’s pretty obvious that this is a “milk.” However, yellow did make us wonder if there was going to be banana in the product. Otherwise, this is a really straightforward and easy to read label design. Overall, we’d definitely like to see a bit more cocoa flavor, but this is, even as it is currently formulated, a very enjoyable product.
