Review: Coconut

Rau’s Coconut variety is a high pressure processed (or “cold-pressured” as the label refers to it) blend of water, raw cacao powder, coconut palm sugar, raw coconut oil, Himalayan pink salt, raw vanilla bean, and monk fruit. Compared with the other flavors in the line, it has an almost milky flavor to it, which is a nice change of pace. We’d say the same for the note of coconut flavor and the added sweetness. Even though Rau doesn't refer to this as a semi-sweet product (like its Semi Sweet variety), this product has the same level of sugar content (and 10 more calories). That being said, it might be nice to call a bit more attention to this aspect of the product. We think that this approach might be something that would would help the overall marketability of the brand if it were adopted for all of the varieties. In the meantime, this is definitely one of the better tasting flavors that Rau has created. Visually, we’d say the same thing. The 12 oz. square plastic bottle has a white label, which offers a nice contrast from the brown color of the liquid. Lastly, since the product is meant to be pronounced as “raw,” it might be helpful to make a callout on the label such that the consumer knows how to say it. All in all, we really enjoyed this flavor for both its slightly sweeter flavor profile and its coconut flavor.
