FMF Citrus Lemonade is a product that fits into the “recovery” segment of the energy drink category. The drink tastes very much like an energy drink, with a sugar sweetened citrus flavor that has a noticeable bite from all of the functional ingredients. Still, it’s quite drinkable, especially compared with some of the more medicinal tasting entries out there. Compared with the Fruit Punch flavor, we found this variety to be more balanced and enjoyable, but ultimately it will be a matter of personal preference. Functionally, there’s a lot going on inside this bottle, including natural caffeine, amino acids, herbal additives, vitamins, and electrolytes. While it’s hard to say that this product is overly hydrating (it’s a bit too sweet to feel like a replacement for a sports drink), it definitely has some energy kick, with over 240mg of caffeine per bottle. Packaging is a16 oz. aluminum bottle, which is definitely a nice way of visually differentiating against all the 16 oz. cans that litter the space. Plus, it’s resealable, which is certainly going to have appeal with some consumers. The look of the product is technical rather than aggressive, which fits nicely with the FMF Racing brand. Overall, a very enjoyable and well executed product.
