The Lemonade with Honey and Ginseng variety of Jack Nicklaus’ Golden Bear Lemonade is a good solid entry into the category. It’s sweetened with a blend of high fructose corn syrup, sucrose, ace-k, and sucralose, which gives the product a very natural level of sweetness but helps cut the calories and sugar content slightly. Using lemon and pear juices, the product has a pretty nice lemon flavor that is balanced rather than overly sour. The honey isn’t something that we taste, although it is certainly something that doesn’t hurt from a marketability point of view. On the outside, we’re still not completely sold on the use of Jack Nicklaus and Golden Bear as the two brands that sell this drink, although it certainly looks and feels somewhat like their successful Arnold Palmer brand (at least in the sense that it has an old golfer on it). However, it doesn’t quite whet the appetite the same way and feels a bit forced. Still, the product inside the can is a pretty solid mainstream lemonade and we’re sure that this product will do well given the right retail placement and price point (two things that AriZona is very good at).
