Flavored with hawthorn berry, mangosteen and pink rose, the Sweet Thorn flavor is probably the most mainstream tasting flavor variety in Health-Ade’s “Super-Tea” sub-line. The flavor is almost like a good-for-you black cherry soda, with a tart berry flavor that provides the primary flavoring for the product. The addition of pink rose adds a distinct note of rose flavor, which is definitely hard to miss as is the note of mangosteen. Either way, the combination works quite well with the kombucha that’s at the base of the drink. Like all of the company's products, it’s moderately effervescent and smooth in its flavor profile. It has a sort of tart and tang between the kombucha and the added flavorings, which is a bit more pronounced than any of their flagship flavors that we’ve sampled. Further on that note, this is a much more complex flavor than their flagship products, all of which focus on one or two flavor elements. So, while this is a nice tasting product we do miss the simplicity of the original flavors. On the outside, Health-Ade has taken its standard packaging and given it a darker background to call out this being the “super-tea” line. Looking at this flavor by itself, it looks like a polished and well-executed design. However, we admittedly like the flagship labels better as they have a lighter and more positive looking vibe. Furthermore, the labels for the three Super-tea flavors look pretty similar, and we’d be hard pressed to remember which is which. Overall, we like what Health-Ade has created, although it’s definitely a more complex product than the flagship flavors.
