Review: Hiball Tonic Water

(Last Updated: Aug 16, 2004 at 12:01 PM)
Hiball Tonic Water is yet another twist for the energy drink category. Packaged in a clear glass 10 oz bottle and sold in 6-packs, the beverage features a clean, classic look that is very much in line with it position as a mixer for cocktails. Consumed by itself, the product has a standard tonic taste which does well to conceal the B vitamins, taurine, guarana, caffeine, and ginseng that it contains. From a marketing standpoint this is a very clever move as Hiball has taken a rather boring but classic mixer and given it the edge of an energy drink. This will no doubt appeal to the on-premise market which hitherto has been basically restricted to using Red Bull or Red Bull knock-offs as mixers for energy drink cocktails.
