The base flavor of Hiball’s coffee line is this one, a rich and creamy beverage that’s made with cold-brewed coffee from beans that are both organically grown and Fair Trade certified. From a flavor perspective, this one is definitely from the same mold as standard ready to drink (RTD) coffee beverages that are sugar-sweetened and have dairy in them. It’s not overly heavy on the coffee flavor, and you can’t taste the added energy ingredients such as ginseng or B vitamins. So, what you have here is a product that delivers the exact same experience as an RTD coffee but has some added functional ingredients. For consumers who are seeking something more from their beverages, this might be a fit, but the product can definitely hold its own on flavor alone. However, we do wish that Hiball offered a variety that was a bit more coffee-forward than its current lineup. But for now, the company has definitely covered the important mainstream flavors. Visually, this is a nice adaptation of the Hiball brand. It’s colorful but clean in its design, while also obvious that it’s a coffee drink. We’d probably eliminate the duplicate callouts for the use of cold brew, but otherwise there isn’t exactly any waste on the front of the can. Finally, we’d love to see this product be certified organic, even if the company has to shed certain ingredients. Overall, Hiball’s coffee is a neat looking and great tasting entry into the coffee energy category.
