Made with a blend of raw kombucha, black tea, chicory root, and vanilla bean, House Kombucha’s Vanilla Orchid Root is a very enjoyable product. Compared with other kombuchas out there, this product has noticeably less sweetness to it (it has 8g of sugar per bottle). That said, this product derives a lot of its flavor from the kombucha and the tea, while the vanilla and chicory combine to create a slightly spiced note to the product. This spice is a very nice complement to the fermented flavor of the kombucha, making this product have a much more balanced flavor than is typically found in competing products. All in all, this formulation is extremely enjoyable. On the outside, the 16 oz. cylindrical bottle looks like something that is used for vinegar or oil, which fits the artsy image that the product has. The label, which appears to be manually applied, is a hand illustrated drawing of a heart shaped brick wall. If it’s urban hipster that they are going for, they’ve definitely succeeded. In any event, it works for this type of product, giving off the vibe that this is a product that has had a lot of care and attention put into it. Overall, a very well executed product.
