Review: Pomegranate Lemonade

Pomegranate Lemonade Kombucha is a blend of Humm’s organic raw kombucha, organic pomegranate juice and organic lemon juice. The blend works quite well, although the balance of fruit flavors isn’t exactly what we’d call lemonade. Instead, there’s a pretty assertive pomegranate flavor to the mix, but it’s honestly a welcome addition and a nice change of pace from Humm's other varieties. The tartness of the pomegranate juice provides some nice counterbalance to the lightly fermented flavor of the base. There is a brief note of lemon juice to it, which seems to mainly serve to bridge the gap between the tart and vinegar flavors. All in all, this is one of our preferred flavors of the brand. In fact, we wish Humm would drop the Strawberry Lemonade flavor and put its best foot forward by only having this one. Packaging is the same 14 oz. proprietary glass bottle that you’ll find used on their other varieties. The most obvious difference for this flavor being the accent color, which the company has chosen to mimic the color of a pomegranate. While there are no fruit graphics, this color certainly does have some appeal to the senses. Otherwise, the product is polished and unique, especially when compared against other products in the kombucha category. Overall, this is a very enjoyable product.
