Review: Matcha Cleanse Matcha Green Tea

Jade Monk’s Matcha Cleanse is the most unique of the line's four flavors, but it’s also the one that we feel as though is the most rough around the edges. Blending matcha, lemon, wheatgrass, kale, spinach, parsley, and cayenne in a USDA Organic and high pressure processed formulation, the product sets out to blend a couple of different types of ingredients into one. While we commend Jade Monk for doing this with only 40 calories and 4g of sugars, the flavor of the product is a bit too heavy on the lemon to the point where it’s the primary flavor. Seeing the name “Matcha Cleanse” and having tried the other flavors, this is definitely not what we were expecting. Behind the lemon you can taste some kale and matcha, but they are really muted. The cayenne and parsley we don’t taste at all. Ultimately, we like the concept, but the execution of it just isn’t there yet. And given that this is an upstart brand, we wonder if it’s really the right move so early on.
