Review: Ginger Devotion

Of the two Katalyst Kombucha flavors that we sampled, this one was definitely our favorite. The pungent spicy flavor of the added ginger does a great job of taming the pungent bitterness of the kombucha. Beyond that, we are concerned about the product's high price point (retail around $3), the difficult to read label design, and the fact that kombucha isn't something that whets the appetite of American consumers. The biggest issue though is the separation that occurs in the product. Specifically, there are somewhat large, slimy globs of ginger and/or kombucha that can be found inside the bottle. That most certainly does not help the refreshment factor of the drink. Overall, it starts out nicely but finishes up rough.
