Review: Original Limeade

Limation Limeade is a high pressure processed (HPP) blend of water, organic lime juice, organic sugar and raw sugar. As far as the flavor is concerned, the company has nailed it, with a bold lime flavor, just the right amount of sweetness, and that freshly made flavor that screams summertime. If it’s not the best bottle of limeade out there, it’s certainly a real contender. On the outside, a 12 oz. square-shaped bottle sets the stage for the premium product that’s inside the bottle. We like the brand and the tagline, “It’s about lime,” but we feel as though the company could give the branding more prominent placement and a better visual treatment than it currently has. Furthermore, the green color that it has used on this flavor, which is the flagship flavor, doesn’t quite pop the way that the labels on the Watermelon or Lavender varieties do. We feel as though the company should address this so that this flavor really jumps out at you. Lastly, we’d like to see Limatoin better communicate why this product is better than the competition. The company has given a lot of space to the callouts for gluten-free and vegan despite these being two things that don’t apply to most limeades anyway. Instead, we’d suggest incorporating something about the use of HPP, which gets no mention on the current bottle. Ultimately, the company's ability to tell the story and better communicate its points of differentiation are what will help this product succeed. Until then, Limation has created a great tasting bottle of limeade, but, based on the packaging and messaging, we fear that it will have trouble standing out from the competition.
