The Coffee Bean flavor of Rumble Supershake is a gluten-free and non-GMO protein drink that has 20g of protein bottle. The protein is dairy-based and is derived from milk protein, calcium caseinate and whey protein. As for the flavor of the product, it’s quite enjoyable, with a rich and creamy texture and coffee flavor that is bold but smooth. Deciding to use brewed coffee has definitely helped, as has sweetening the product with maple syrup and agave nectar, which add a mild amount of sweetness to the product. The company also adds stevia, but you really can’t taste it. In addition, the beverage is formulated with flax and pumpkin seed oils (for added omega-3) as well as a host of other ingredients that include thickening/emulsifying additives as well pomegranate, green tea extract, cherry juice, beet juice, spinach, kale, and black currant. As you can probably tell, there’s a lot going on inside this product, although the taste is truly that of a coffee flavored protein drink. The other stuff is, well, somewhat of an unknown in terms of their contribution to the product. Positioning and messaging are, more so than the flavor or the package design (which has a clean, modern look to it), the biggest questions for this product. “Supershake” requires too much thought and explanation compared with the protein and omega content, which are well understood and have clear benefit. So, it ultimately comes down to this: how does Rumble stand out from being “just another protein drink?” Figuring out how to better articulate the other ingredients is a good place to start. Beyond that, we do wonder if a dairy-free formulation would help with the crowd that cares about natural and non-GMO. Overall, this product has a nice base of flavor to work with and some slick packaging design, but what it really needs is a way to make its value proposition more clear to the consumer.
