Orange Passion is the latest addition to Runa’s line of USDA Organic carbonated Clean Energy beverages. This product, which clocks in at 10 calories and 1g of sugar per 8.4 oz. can, has a pleasant guayusa flavor that goes nicely with the drink’s moderate level of carbonation. From there, you’ll find a touch of sweetness and a sharp note of citrus flavor. Lastly, there’s the orange and passion flavors, which round things out quite nicely. One of the really nice things about this product, which is 4 percent juice (organic lemon juice), is that it doesn’t have any added sugar or other sweeteners. For a product that is calling itself “clean energy,” this certainly helps the product stay honest and true in what it’s delivering to the consumer. And it doesn’t hurt that the flavor is quite enjoyable to consume. Functionally, guayusa has natural caffeine and the product contains 120 mg per can. This certainly puts it in the right realm (albeit on the higher end for a package of this size) for what is typical of the energy drink category. The design of the can looks polished and appealing, with a white backdrop and a nicely arranged front panel. Compared with the other flavors of Runa Clean Energy, we really like use of an orange accent color, which appears on some of the text and in the fruit images. This provides a nice contrast of color between the green guayusa leaf and makes this flavor stand out from their other flavors. Overall, we really like this product and found it to be the most enjoyable flavor of Runa Clean Energy to date.
