Runa’s Half & Half is the company's version of the classic half lemonade, half iced tea blend that’s been a stalwart of the ready-to-drink tea category. Of the many Runa flavors and formulations that we’ve sampled since the brand’s inception, this is perhaps the most mainstream tasting offering that we’ve seen from the company. The flavor is straightforward and enjoyable, with the flavor of the guayusa tasting more like black tea than it ever has before. The addition of the sugar, lemon juice (3 percent), and lemon extract round out the rest of the flavor profile. At 70 calories and 15g of sugar per bottle, this product is a touch sweeter than Runa's previous products (which have been at 50 calories). This seems to work quite well and should help the product appeal to a slightly broader audience. The company has also refined the label design with this latest round of products. It’s a subtle change, but it has tightened up some of the text and moved a variety of the icons to the side of the label. This definitely makes for a nicer looking product, although we do wonder if removing disclosure of the exact caffeine content (it now says “as much as one cup of coffee”) will help the product. Otherwise, we really like the polished look of the product. Overall, a well-executed product that can definitely run with the mainstream organic teas.
