The premise behind Suja’s Probiotic Water is a bit different than the brand's other lines, which are all very high in juice content. The beverages start with the leftover materials from Suja’s cold-pressed juices, and from there the company adds water and probiotics, which results in something that tastes like a flavored water. In the case of this particular variety, the ginger and lime add just a hint of flavor -- exactly what we’d expect from an infused water. The lime and ginger flavors taste very fresh and clean, which is a nice change from what you’ll typically find in a flavored water. Of the four flavors that we sampled, this one was our favorite. At 5 calories and 0g of sugars per bottle, this product is definitely a departure from what Suja is traditionally known for. The addition of probiotics is certainly a nice bonus, although it’s unclear as to how much this will impact the purchase decision. Packaging is a 14.5 oz. round bottle, which looks very much like one of its juice products. However, due to the narrow font and its vertical placement, we found it somewhat hard to read “PROBIOTIC.” In addition, we wonder if this shouldn’t have a different approach to the label as we feel as though it could definitely be confused for a juice. Since Suja’s brand equity is focused on juice, further visual differentiation would definitely be helpful. Overall, an innovative concept that’s definitely a nice change of pace for Suja.
