Review: Oh My Meyer

Posted: Jun 23, 2015 at 12:51 PM (Last Updated: Jul 09, 2015 at 9:44 AM)
Using a blend of water, lemon juice cane sugar, meyer lemon juice and tangerine juice, Sweet’tauk’s Oh My Meyer is a premium cold-pressed lemonade beverage that is high pressure processed (HPP). As with any HPP beverage, our expectations are definitely higher than if this were pasteurized. Otherwise, why spend the money? There are plenty of tasty pasteurized lemonades out there. The product, which is 14 percent juice, honestly doesn’t taste all that different than other premium lemonades out there, aside from the finish being slightly cleaner. Admittedly, that’s a very nuanced difference that we’re not sure anyone would even notice unless they were drinking it to write a review as we are. Part of this is clearly due to the fact that this product is also 86 percent water and contains sugar, neither of which will gain anything from using HPP over pasteurization. Still, for a super premium perishable lemonade, we definitely like their blend of lemon, Meyer lemon and tangerine juice. The blend is less tart than straight lemonade -- and it’s also nice that the company didn’t add any filler juices. From a design and packaging perspective, the product definitely has nailed a summertime motif. The front panel uses a surfboard shape for the logo, which, when paired with the narrow san serif font, has a vintage feel to it. The Sweet’tauk brand could stand to be a bit bigger, but we otherwise like what the company has created. All in all, it’s a very enjoyable tasting bottle of lemonade, but we’re not sure if it will end up competing with HPP juices or other premium lemonades.
