In an interview with BevNET, Happy Tree CFO/COO Will Finkelstein called the new investment a recognition of the company’s potential and “a good validation of our brand and the maple water category” after a year in which the brand expanded to over 400 new retail locations and debuted several new SKUs.
Happy Tree Pomegranate Maple Water is now available nationally through UNFI and is launching in several national and regional retailers throughout the country, including select Kroger banners and Giant Eagle.
Earlier this month, PepsiCo introduced a new packaged format for its Stubborn line of craft sodas. Scott Finlow, vice president of innovation and insights for global foodservice at PepsiCo said that the company views craft beverages as an important part of the company’s future, telling Fortune that “Craft is not a fad. It is here to stay.”
With distribution in more than 1,000 retail locations, Happy Tree will also be expanding to several more UNFI warehouses this summer to deepen its penetration of natural foods retailers throughout the country.
Merging two fast-growing beverage trends, Happy Tree has launched a ready-to-drink coffee that is cold brewed using only maple water. The company, which markets a line of organic, high pressure processed maple waters, will debut the new product at Natural Products Expo West 2016.
